The URSI-France 2018 Workshop, under the sponsorship of the French Academy of Sciences, was dedicated to “Geolocation and navigation”. The workshop was held at the Meudon Site of the “Observatoire de Paris” (10 minutes train from Paris), on March 28-29, 2018.

 Geolocation has massively entered our society. It is used in many applications. It covers a wide range of fields, including GNSS satellite tracking systems, radars, interferometry, communication systems, autonomous vehicles, connected objects and smart cities. Geolocation may require extremely accurate clocks, which raise scientific and technological challenges.

 The workshop was organized around oral and poster sessions. Most sessions were introduced by invited lecturers presenting the state of the art and/or recent developments, followed by regular communications, which were selected by the Scientific Committee. The working languages will be French and English.

• Observation of the Earth and its environment from space
• Geolocation on Earth by GNSS satellite systems
• Advanced techniques, passive and active radars, interferometry
• Geolocation of airplanes and UAV without GPS
• Developments related to geolocation in mobile telephony and for the Internet of things, indoor and underground localization, big data and predictive localization, localization for industry 4.0 (robots…)
• Metrology and electromagnetism aspects of clocks

The workshop will be held at the Meudon Site of the “Observatoire de Paris”, 5 place Jules Janssen, Meudon, France, on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29, March 2018. The Thursday around 12:30 pm, will be held the General Assembly of URSI-France.

An URSI prize of 500 euros will be allocated by the Scientific Committee for the best paper presented by a PhD student.

A Young Scientist Grant of 300 euros and free registration will be awarded to a selected paper whose first author’s affiliation is European and outside France. The first author must attend the workshop and he/she must be under 35 years old.

The papers will be available online via this website

After selection by the Scientific Committee, some authors will be invited to publish a paper either in a special issue of the “Comptes rendus Physique” of the “Académie des sciences” or in the “Revue de l’électricité et de l’électronique” (REE).

The communication proposals should be submitted online via the website https://ursi-france.sciencesconf.org/, with a clear and concise one or two pages abstract, allowing scientific evaluation. For further information on paper submission, see Template in Word, OpenOfficeorLateX

The registration fee is 220 € for each participant. It includes, among others, lunches and coffee breaks. A 125€ reduced fee will be applied to students and retired participants.

With an additional 47 €you will receive the special issue of the “Comptes rendus Physique” of the “Académie des sciences”, which will gather the key contributions of the Workshop. It will be sent to you when released, early 2019.
