URSI-France 2027 workshop
HARDWARE AND WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS CYBERSECURITY
March 16-18, 2027
LAAS-CNRS, Toulouse
Advances in research and the possibilities offered by artificial intelligence algorithms have highlighted the vulnerability of computer hardware and computer systems to cyberattacks, which are constantly increasing. Within these systems, wireless data communication channels are particularly vulnerable (eavesdropping, denial-of-service attacks, sender identity spoofing, etc.) because they can be attacked remotely, without physical contact.
This workshop will bring together the radio science, microelectronics, telecommunications and systems security communities. They aim to compare approaches, from metrology to countermeasures, and to foster interdisciplinary collaborations.
Conference topics
Track 1: Hardware attacks and countermeasures
- Side-channel attacks; Fault injection; Hardware reverse engineering; PUFs
Track 2: Communication and propagation security
- Physical-layer security; Radio-frequency fingerprinting; GNSS jamming; IoT, 5G and 6G security; Spectrum monitoring security; Software-defined radio; Radar
Track 3: Extreme electromagnetic and radiation environments
- IEMI; Radiation effects on reliability and security; Security of satellite links
Track 4: Regulatory framework
- Regulatory requirements, RED cybersecurity directive; Cyber Resilience Act
Track 5: Medical devices, electromagnetism and health
- Medical device cybersecurity; Biomedical wireless links; IEMI; Wireless power transfer
►The programme will include open sessions, allowing scientists to present work on any topic within radio science.
► The programme will include a “CyberSecurity in Action” session featuring 5-minute demonstrations or videos covering both offensive and defensive aspectsof cybersecurity.
► In addition, in line with the URSI policy of supporting the participation of women in radio science, women are strongly encouraged to make their work visible at JS 27.
►A selection of papers will be proposed for extended publication in the Comptes rendus de l’Académie des sciences - Physique (in English).
See the call for papers.
Submission deadline: 16 December 2026
Young scientists
A “Young scientist” grant of 300 euros and free registration will be awarded to the lead author and presenter of the best candidate paper, provided she/he is under 35 on 18 March 2027 and affiliated with a European laboratory outside France.
- The “Young Researcher” best paper prize will be granted by the scientific committee. The applicant must be a PhD student or postdoctoral researcher and first author. Submitting a full paper rather than a short abstract is recommended.
These two allocations are independent and may turn out to be given to the same person.
