SCIENTIFIC DAYS
The URSI-France 2015 scientific days, being held under the sponsoring of the French Academy of Sciences, have been dedicated to "Probing matter with Electromagnetic Waves" , from RF to optics. The scientific days were held at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (Cnam) in Paris on March 24 and 25, 2015.
Two thousand years ago, Pliny the Elder observed the spectral decomposition of light through a prism, which gave birth to the concept of chromatic dispersion, explained only in the 18th century. In the last century, the first mobile radiology tools were used on the field. Nowadays, satellites, radars and radio telescopes sense our immediate and distant environment for a better understanding of physical phenomena and toward the development of new applications, such as remote sensing. Structural health monitoring and non-destructive testing of material are invading industry and our everyday lives, e.g. through routine detection of manufacturing defects in composite materials on production lines by microwave, terahertz and acoustic waves. In the context of these constantly progressing technologies, the URSI France 2015 scientific days has review the progress achieved in wave-matter interaction, towards scientific and fundamental goals as well as driven by application needs.

STUDENT AWARD
The URSI prize has been exceptionally allocated by the Scientific Committeeat Maria Merlan for the article "Electromagnetic system to determine the moisture content of wood chips" and Antoine Azan, ex aequo for the article "CARS microspectroscopy to probe interfacial water around biological samples under electroporation", best papers presented by PhD students.

After selection by the Scientific Committee, some authors will be invited to publish a paper either in a special issue of the "Comptes rendus Physique" of the Academy of Sciences or in the "Revue de l'électricité et de l'électronique" (REE).
